Album Time: Dr. Feelgood by Mötley Crue

What’s up guys? Shiningbind here with another episode for the week on Shiningbind Band Talk. If you have that free moment, please take that moment by hitting the follow button on any of the social media we are on @shiningbindbandtalk. This week’s episode is quite an exciting one as it’s that time again to do another album review. This is one many would enjoy as we are going into reviewing Dr. Feelgood by the one and only notorious rock band, Mötley Crue.

When it comes to the album, Dr. Feelgood, this album was put out back when Nikki Sixx got himself sober from heroin addiction. As we all know back in late ‘87, Nikki Sixx overdosed on heroin the second time and was pronounced dead for two minutes. However, luckily he was saved by an EMT, who was a hardcore Mötley Crue fan. I personally truly thank that guy for saving an icon’s life. Anyways, I was torn between having Shout at The Devil or Dr. Feelgood is my all time favorite album. However, in the end, I picked Shout at the Devil, Dr. Feelgood comes a close second. Why I enjoy the album, Dr. Feelgood, is because not only it’s the first album they put out while sober, but it shows how much the band has grown and come a long way since the Too Fast for Love era.

The sound is more complex whereas in their earlier stuff, the sounds were more simple. The notes are more complex and the lyrics have a true meaning when it comes to sobriety, drug addiction, etc. Nothing was too drowned out where in fact, the sound had a nice balance, especially for back at that time. Moreover, it was also around the time where glam metal was in decline because grunge was becoming the next big trend. In a way, Mötley Crue still rocked and kept at the top as I see them as trendsetters. Dr. Feelgood in a way has saved the lives of many. Heck, Mötley Crue in general has saved many.

Overall, I give this album a 10 out of 10 because the album is fresh, has a unique sound compared to the earlier releases. Moreover, all while sober. Big kudos to Nikki Sixx for living a sober life, and I do recommend this always to friends and family. Until next time on Shiningbind Band Talk! Peace out!
