What’s up guys? Shiningbind here with another episode of Shiningbind Band Talk. We are back after taking a week off and still going strong. If you haven’t yet, please take a moment by heading to any of the social media platforms we are on and give us a follow @shiningbindbandtalk. This week after constantly listening to “I’ve been Everywhere” by L.A. Rats, we are diving into a song by the multi-talented Rob Zombie. Yes, we are going into the song, “Living Dead Girl”. This is actually how I first discovered Rob Zombie back when I was a kid by hearing this song. Anyways, let’s dive in.
For those who are unaware of Rob Zombie, he is not only a musician, he is also a filmmaker as you recall movies like “The Devil’s Rejects” which is a good movie by the way, and I do recommend checking it out. Anyways, the song “Living Dead Girl” is a song by Rob Zombie off the album Hellbilly Deluxe. The beginning of the song is actually a clip taken from a film trailer “Lady Frankenstein”. Knowing Rob Zombie, he is a man that is all about the horror theme in his music as well as movies. With “Living Dead Girl”, there are some references in there from multiple movies. However, not just any movie, the theme is, you guessed it, horror. I will say that sound wise, it even gives off that sound of fright when it comes to the music in general. I remember first listening to that song, I felt chills down my spine, but that’s just my opinion.
The lyrics are quite insane as it describes a woman loving the dead. The lyrics break it all down into detail. In a way, despite the references he has found, it is an interesting song where if one hasn’t heard it, they could feel the fright and the spookiness of the song.
Overall, I give this song a 7 out of 10 because although it’s an interesting song, I feel it doesn’t quite stand out. I don’t feel as much of the uniqueness. However, despite all that, it's still good and the lyrics are catchy. I do recommend it to friends and family. Anyways, that’s all for now until next time on Shiningbind Band Talk. Peace out!
