SONG OF THE WEEK: Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard

What’s up guys? Shiningbind here with another episode of Shiningbind Band Talk. If you have that moment, please take that moment by hitting that follow button on any of the social media we are on @shiningbindbandtalk. This latest episode goes out to all you Def Leppard fans as we are going into analyzing the song, Pour Some Sugar on Me. Now seeing that majority of you already know who Def Leppard is, I won’t explain anymore on that end. Anyways, let’s dive in, shall we?

So Pour Some Sugar on Me is off of Def Leppard’s 1987 album, Hysteria. It reached number 2 on the US Billboard hot 100, and is considered the band’s signature song. Lyric wise, it has a lot of slang in some of the wording. Also, it talks about an affair with a woman which no surprise there since this song was written back in the 80s where sex, drugs and rock and roll were a thing. Sound wise, it gives that distinct sound which in a way stands out from their earlier stuff. I personally find it a little more complex than their earlier stuff whereas their earlier stuff was more simple and obvious and predictable. This song in particular has an interesting sound as you can feel the band’s chemistry.

Overall, I give this song a 9 out of 10 because it has potential and that’s why it’s some of their best work. Moreover, it brings the band closer than ever. Also, I love the slang used in the song as it is quite fitting. I do recommend it to friends and family. Anyways, that’s all for now, until next time on Shiningbind Band Talk. Peace out!
